The final episode of this lively soap opera, performed in Harmony Square, brought to an end a wonderful assembly of performers and the creative talents of writer and star Deano Wilson-Rouse.  Im happy and sad at the same time!. I had a blast and once again my actors were unbelievable, she said.  But all is not lost for addicts of this fun and lively romp - its on the cards that it will be back for season two next year!  Here are some recent shots of the show to keep you going until then..                 Reproduced from the Expositor, Thursday July 10 2008 By Joanne Miltenbburg expositor staff Brantford A number of special guests were scheduled to take the stage for the first episode of Brantfords outdoor soap opera Wednesday, but an unscheduled appearance threatened to bring down the curtain. A stiff breeze knocked over props, blew away signs, and looked, for a moment, as if it might take down the entire set. But the walls stood up and the cast of As the Square Turns pulled through, ad-libbing lines about an earthquake shaking the show and drawing laughs from about 200 people gathered in downtown Harmony Square. Written by Deano Wilson Rouse, the soap opera will continue every Wednesday in July and August. The 45-minute shows start at noon. The show centers around a fictional newspaper, the Harmony Expose, being launched in Brantford. Rouse, who plays publisher Devina Devine, said the first show was fantastic. Im really, really pleased, especially given the hurricane that blew through, she said. Erin McFadden, who plays the newspapers reporter/photographer Leslie Word, said the first episode was a bit unexpected. There was a lot of ad-libbing and improv, which wasnt expected. Hopefully, its a calmer day next week. Staffing at the Harmony Expose is a bit   ");

Back in September 2007, Klaude. who works at Focus Media with her husband who owns the company, was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. The experience, although quite unnerving at times, was, as she calls it: : A Blessing. She says that it brought her back to living a more purposeful life. She started designing the Calendar while recovering from a second surgery back in February 2008. The concept was to find willing participants who would agree to submit themselves to a professional photo shoot as well as contribute their stories of hope and faith. This calendar is meant to celebrate life. To give hope to people going through the disease as well as cherish the ones that have made it through successfully. It can also be used as a reminder to someone who is blessed with great health not to take it for granted and to live life to the very fullest on a daily basis. A photo shoot was held in Brantford at the Inspirational Hearts boutique. (They are co-sponsors of this project. Their unique boutique caters to people who are directly or indirectly affected with and by Cancer). Many people contributed to the success of this shoot. It was a wonderful experience for all involved. Our goal To raise 100,000 for Cancer Research Please help us reach this great goal by purchasing one of these calendars. They are only 10 for a one of a kind 16 month calendar. 100% proceeds of the sale of this Calendar will be donated to Cancer Research. Binkley is going to work with the actors of Deano Wilson-Rouse’s upcoming play Pirates Take Paris. He will help direct them to put together a realistic looking sword fight for the audience. “It’s going to be a big huge fight and it’s going to be fan to perform. To speed up rehearsal time, I’m going to find somebody that is available with sword fighting experience to do the scene,” said Binkley from his Paris residence. Binkley added that by bringing in experienced actors who have had swords in their hands for hundreds of hours, the play will have a ‘big show feel’ but will be done safely. Typically a sword-fighting scene the size of the one Binkley is overlooking, takes 20 hours of rehearsal time. Binkley plans to do it in six hours. Binkley has coordinated sword fight scenes for the television show Highlander: The Raven, Giovanni Unmasked, FX: The Series Season 2 and more. Described as a vivacious woman with bright red hair who oozes energy and enthusiasm, Deano was featured in fine magazine article not too long ago, written by Colleen Toms.  She was interviewed in the living room of her country home in Paris - and the writer noted that the decor matched her personality - earthy, adventurous, keen and dynamic. The article recalls how Deano won Opportunity Knocks as a 12-year-old - the audiences applause measured on the Clapometer - and later got a recording contract from Columbia. I never had singing lessons, just a natural ability, and singing was what I loved to do she explained. Her first record was released in 1965, and a TV show to promote her LP. The programme was called Little Miss With It, and Deano explained It was probably one of the first music videos made. Her records charted, and she was in high demand for concerts, cabarets and clubs throughout Europe. And she shared the spotlight with the likes of Patti Labelle, Steve Winwood and Tom Jones, and met the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I was in love with Brian Jones and I was 13 when I met them. We had been on the same television programme and I knew Brian Jones was in the next dressing room, so I asked my mum can we go and say hello? It was Mick Jagger who answered the door, but I wasnt awestruck back them, I think because I was in the business. The band politely greeted their young fan, and Deano recalls They were very sweet to me. In all Dean made around eight records for Columbia. She reflects: Its great being a has-been. Ive got some great memories and I truly consider myself lucky to have done what I did. Im without it now, but then I was still with it, she jokes. Over the next four decades Deano appeared and starred in many musical productions, including The King and I, Victor Victoria and My Fair Lady. Now in her fifties she continues to work hard, through her Tal  ");

One of the sophisticated stars who leads a fabulous, almost dream-like, life of luxury? Not at all - this is Deano. Completely unspoilt, she is far more excited about the expected arrival of a new sister or brother next month than all the glamour of the show business world which has taken her to its heart. This is Cardiffs own kid who has already shown she has the makings of a big-time star. With a surprisingly mature voice, a bubbnling personality and a lot of joy in life, this 16-year-old girl has topped the bill in clubs and theatres over well-established stars, and has shown that she is worthy of the honour. At home she is very much the family girl. Daughter of Mr Lionel Wilson and his attractive wife Gemma. She has two older brothers, and a big family fan club of uncles, aunts and cousins, as well as the growing group of people who never meet her, but are won over by her exuberance and obvious talent. Deano at home is like everybodys idea of the nice girl next door. Home loving and delighted with her one and only luxury acquisition - a pony bought for her last birthday. She shows a very genuine affection and appreciation of her parents. Mrs Wilson has made all Deanos stage clothes to date, including some original trouser suits, full-length dresses, and the casual teenage clothes Deano loves to wear, her favourite gear is still her riding outfit, or jeans and shirt or jumper. Although she is completely unspoilt by the sort of life which would turn most heads, she does take her career seriously. I hope that if things go well I could start getting parts in musical shows. This is Deano, the Welsh wonder girl who tops the bill at the Club Fiesta, Stockton-on-Tees, for the seven days starting Sunday June 26. Born in Ely, Cardiff, Deano (real name Geraldine Wilson) lives with her parents at the pub in Tiger Bay that was Shirley Basseys local - The Ship and Pilot. She got the name Deano because her younger brother could not pronounce Geraldine! Pert, cute, freckled-faced Deano - holder of the high jump record for her age at the school she attended in Ely - burst into the limelight after her uncle Pat Murphy, a well-known sports journalist in Fleet Street, took her to meet Cyril Stapleton and Geoffrey Everitt of Radio Luxembourg. They were so impressed that it was arranged for Deano to make a record. Then came the national exposure when Hughie Green put her into Opportunity Knocks. She won and received a fantastic response from the voting public - and scores of offers from show business executives, and signed up finally with West One Entertainments. Deano is... a bronze medallist for tap dancing and a first medallist for ballet... a talented impressionist... won the trophy and £1,000 (when aged 12) at the Butlins National Talent contest in 1964... the girl who overcame T.W.W.s no English ruling by singing in French (she is unable to speak Welsh). This dynamic little singer started in show biz when she was 11. She likes horse rising, acting, swimming and mod clothes, and is a Shirley Bassey fan. Her first release on the Columbia label was Just a child in this world. And Deano, the schoolgirl who already earns well over £250 a week, is still only at the start of a brilliant singing career.                 Click record for an mp3 sample   Back to index    ");
